Jean K. S. D. Killin

Daughter of Archie and Jean (Dunlop) Killin. Born in Toronto in 1919. Died August 11th 1997. Age 78 years.

Jean was the surviving twin (twin sister Catherine died after three months) and was one of 10 children born to Jean (Dunlop) Killin.

Jean grew up in a family of 6 boys and only herself and her much younger sister Joan (1933 – 2016) to help her Mother with any attempt at gender balance in that family.

Jean married (assuming the last name English) and had two sons. After divorcing her husband, Jean and her sons lived with her parents until her mother Jean (Dunlop) Killin passed in 1972.

Grandma Killin & Grandpa Killin would launch and host many traditions including; Family Picnic at High Park then moved to Toronto Centre Island, visiting their grandchildren in the fall (yes Grandpa would drive with his prosthesis hand on a knob attached to his steering wheel) and bring gifts for all. Also, and at least for the Ajax Killin wing of the clan, every weekend it was piling 5-12 into a car for “fish & chips, ice-cream, 50 cents and go home.”

Jean is buried in the family plot.
